An exhibition by artists whose work is inspired by the urban environment. Studio 513 is bringing to Radiant Pavilion the conversations of its members; Katie Collins, Bin, Dixon-Ward, Sue Buchanan and Eli Giannini. All four engage with the idea of city and this group exhibition shows the varied responses to this shared thematic concern. The outcomes, expressed as jewellery, are visually quite different. Scale is a recurring motif for Collins and Dixon-Ward and Buchanan and Giannini - individually and as SUPERPLEASED - take the materiality of the urban context as a point of departure for their inventions together with observations of the incidental and accidental. A focus on materiality is also apparent in Collins work combined with machine-referenced movement, and Dixon-Ward’s grid-inspired forms are surprising and delightfully sensuous.
