Having come together due to a shared passion for textiles, Minna Loft and Birgitta Helmersson have engaged in a practical conversation exploring the different processes of their individual creative pursuits to create a body of work. While Birgitta’s extensive knowledge of textiles stems from a background of pattern making and garment construction her passion lies with print and textile manipulation. Minna has a craft based approach using textiles as a basis for many of her jewellery works, with an interest in traditional crafts. Having discovered their similar interest in re-purposing materials and garments, this body of work explores the intersection between clothing and jewellery. As part of this showcase they are offering a workshop on Sunday 27 August, 12-3pm. After sharing and reflecting on the pairs own creative processes and skills, participants will be invited to respond by re-purposing their own item of clothing into jewellery.
